Furnace, air conditioning and plumbing in Ogden

Ogden is the northern edge of what we cover and it has the oldest concentrated housing of anywhere on the list. Downtown and the streets around 25th hold a great deal of pre-war building, which means retrofitted heating, original waste lines, and mechanical rooms that were a coal cellar first.

Ogden questions we get asked

Do you really come as far north as Ogden?

Yes. Ogden is about fifty minutes up I-15 from the shop in Sandy and it is the northern edge of the Wasatch Front area we cover. We will tell you honestly on the phone what the day looks like rather than promise a slot we cannot reach.

How long should a water heater last in an older Ogden house?

Eight to twelve years on a conventional tank, and hard water pushes most toward the lower end. In an older house there is a second factor: the tank often sits in a space with poor clearance and worse access, so a failure that would be an inconvenience elsewhere becomes a flooded basement here. Damp around the base of the tank is the symptom worth calling about immediately.

Is Ogden colder than Salt Lake City?

Generally yes, a little. It sits further north and closer to the mountain front, which means a longer heating season and more snow in an average winter than the south end of the Salt Lake valley sees. In a house with pre-war walls and windows that difference shows up on the gas bill rather than on the thermostat.

My old house has radiators, not vents. Can you help?

It depends what you need. We are licensed for HVAC and plumbing both, and hydronic heating sits right on the boundary between them — which is exactly why it is worth saying what you have when you call, so we send somebody who has seen it before rather than somebody who has not.

What we see in Ogden homes

Pre-war housing, and what it does to a system

Solid walls, original windows in many cases, and heating that has been swapped through two or three technologies in the same building. The result is equipment newer than the ducting it is connected to, ducting newer than the house, and a building that leaks air in ways a load calculation has to account for rather than ignore.

A longer, colder heating season

Further north and closer to the mountains means more heating degree days than the south valley. Nothing about that changes how a furnace works. It does mean the gap between a system that is adequate and a system that is properly sized costs more per winter here than it does in Draper.

The drive is real, and so is the coverage

Fifty minutes is fifty minutes. Ogden has been on the coverage list for a long time and we are not going to pretend it is twenty. What we will do is be straight on the phone about whether today is possible, which is the part that actually matters to somebody with no heat.

What customers say

Great customer service. Luke is the man! He took the time to talk with me on his birthday and then had my central air up and running the next day.
Taylor BiceAir conditioning
We had our old furnace making a loud noise, apparently the motor had gone bad so we ended up having iRepair install a new furnace and AC with a new system that is much more efficient.

Eusebio came out within a couple hours, found that we had a couple filters that needed replaced and our cool had frozen over.

No heat, no cooling or a leak in Ogden?

Call and speak to somebody now. We come out the same day wherever the schedule allows — and if we cannot reach Ogden today we will tell you that on the phone rather than after you have waited in.
